Pinata Possibilities
Some new uses for Pinata files
Exactly like its namesake, the Piñata is a container for whatever audio-related party treats you want to put into it.
They'll stay safe and sound until someone with the right stick bashes it open and takes them out.
In Australia, Commercial Radio Australia has designated that multi-media commercials for digital radio be created in a Piñata file. This ensures that:
1. Audio, text and image for each campaign are packaged and approved together
2. Audio .wav format can be automatically verified before dispatch to radio stations to ensure it meets the CRA standards
3. Audio length can be automatically verified to ensure it's within the 1% CRA tolerance.
Each Piñata production and carting tool automatically records who creates it and carts it, as well as keeping an audit trail of any changes made.
Importantly, it also records the details of the person who approved the file for broadcast.
Although CRA has determined the uses of Piñata for the purposes of its members, Piñata is not limited to those uses. The same Piñata files can carry extra information without compromising the quality of the audio or CRA standards.
For example, AudioNET's SmartPiñata has a section for adding images and text so advertisers can display their logos with any radio commercials being streamed over the Internet and mobile phones.
Here are a few other examples of what you can put into your Piñata file and why:
- Voice talent - roll-over fees
-
Music details - APRA and AMCOSS fees
-
Script - key word searches
Only those with a Smart Piñata Carting tool will be able to access the data they need.
So, the one Piñata file could include, script, voice talent, music details, logos and text for webstreaming, logos and text for digital radio streaming as well as the broadcast quality audio file.
Piñata's possibilities are endless.
Anyone who works with short form audio files can find several time-saving uses for the new format.
It's not limited to radio commercials or commercial radio. It just happened to start that way.
