Client Services Manager Sandy Campbell puts the professional polish on your dispatches
Holding Pen
The Holding Pen section of your AudioNET account is a really useful area that can save you a lot of stress.
Any audio file in the Holding Pen is already on the AudioNET server, which means it can be dispatched - from anywhere, by anyone with your account details.
The ideal way to use the Holding Pen is to upload into it, ANY files waiting approval for dispatch.
That way, you don't have to hang around waiting on approval.
Once approval is given, any staff member can dispatch the approved key numbers, from anywhere with internet access.
There's no charge for the Holding Pen - you're only charged for the final dispatch. And there's no limit to the number of spots you can put into it.
So, don't trap your spots and your staff in the studio. Upload to the Holding Pen and be free!
Bit Rates
There are still significant numbers of spots being dispatched that don't comply with the CRA standards for audio format.
We know this is a tricky issue, because CRA has set 16 bit 48K as the audio standard, and some studios are used to producing 24 bit for TV audio.
The practical reason for 16 bits is that most of the broadcast software used by major networks can only handle audio files with that bit rate.
So, if you dispatch files of any other bit rate, some guy or girl in carting will have to down-sample them before they're loaded for broadcast.
It's as simple as that.
So if you don't want someone else re-sampling your work, ensure the final commercials are dispatched as 16 bit 48k wav files.
Holding Pen Prevents Party Pooping
The Holding Pen section of your AudioNET account is a really useful area that can save you a lot of stress AND let you get to the party on time.
This is particularly handy during the Christmas season.
Popular party invitees, Sound Reservoir, use the Holding Pen to save their sanity during the silly season.
Last year, rather than hanging around waiting on approval for the last job of the day, they put the spots into the Holding Pen, all ready to go. When approval finally came through, they were already driving to the party.
So, they fired up the laptop, chucked in the wireless dongle, dispatched the track, and arrived at Christmas drinks all relaxed, finished work for the day, and ready to Party.
There's no charge for the Holding Pen - and no limit to the number of spots you can put into it.
